WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 25, 2024) — The following is a statement from Leslie Van Buskirk, President of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), on the announced departures of SEC Chair Gary Gensler and SEC Commissioner Jaime Lizárraga:
On behalf of all NASAA members, I want to express my appreciation to Chair Gary Gensler and Commissioner Jaime Lizárraga for their service and leadership at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. State securities regulators share a common investor protection mission with the SEC and, working together, we are better able to serve Main Street investors, retirement savers, and small businesses. We appreciate Chair Gensler’s and Commissioner Lizárraga’s engagement and collaboration in their time with the Commission. We look forward to continued engagement with the SEC to keep our markets safe and secure.
